SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES AND BRANCH CLOSURES

In line with government guidance (https://www.gov.uk/…/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing…), we have now put in place strict social distancing measures at our practice to keep you and our teams safe, to secure the best care for your pets and help reduce the transmission of the coronavirus.   Our overriding priority is to continue to keep our Practice team safe and healthy – this is critical for two reasons – firstly simply to keep them safe – as they are very special; secondly we rely on them being safe and healthy so that we can maintain a functional team and continue providing you and your pets with the care and services you need. Your pets will need our services and care as this pandemic continues and we want to be there for them and for you.  

We have decided to continue to not allow our clients into the building throughout June, even though some businesses may be looking at resuming a more ‘normal’ service.  Many of you will know the layout of our waiting and consulting rooms and will understand that we will find it difficult to maintain the Governments guidance of 2 metre distances if clients come into the surgeries.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but we feel it is essential to safe guard our team so that continuity of service to you is maintained. Reducing risk for our team is the most effective way of keeping our services running and maintaining our service for you. 

We will continue with the handover of pets and medication collections being conducted outside the Practice premises and will continue to Risk Assess all patients by telephone consultation with the Vet whilst guidance from our Governing Body (RCVS) advises us to do so. Our team members will be wearing face coverings for these hand overs and we would be grateful if you would wear one too.

APPOINTMENTS

We are only able to see appointments at the surgery after a Risk Assessment with the Vet. This means that we will not be booking appointments in at the surgery until a Telephone/Telemedicine call has been arranged.  There is a consultation fee for this service but should an in-person appointment be booked for your pet you would not be charged again for this initial consultation fee.  Under the current guidelines from our Governing Body (RCVS) we may be able to remotely prescribe treatments in some cases.

Should you be given an appointment: when you arrive, call us from the outside and wait outside or in your car until we come to you. We will ask you to keep 2 meters between you and any of our team members or any other clients.  We may start to talk to you and examine your pet outside first. We will probably bring your pet in to the consult room and ask you to wait outside. We will then call you during or at the end of the examination.  We will ask you to pay by card only and we may even ask you to pay over the phone prior to your visit.

Routine boosters can be given at this time and will be booked in after an assessment with the Vet on the telephone. We will ensure that your dog or cat receives vaccinations as soon as we are able, and if this involves restarting a course there will be no additional charges made.

Neutering– We are able to carry out some neutering (after a Risk Assessment with the team).  Please contact your usual branch to discuss the booking of this.
